Summary: Supports UK institutions to host eminent overseas professors, enhancing academic expertise and fostering new collaborations in underrepresented research areas.
This scheme enables UK higher education institutions to invite distinguished senior professors from overseas to spend an extended period at the host institution. The goal is to enrich the skills and knowledge of academic staff and students, particularly in areas underrepresented in UK research, by facilitating the diffusion of novel expertise. Visiting Professors are expected to engage in a range of activities beyond collaborative research, including delivering "Leverhulme Lectures" and contributing significantly to the academic environment of the host institution. Priority is given to new or recent collaborations, and the scheme is intended to bring expertise not otherwise available in the UK.
