Description
SCAR’s Visiting Scholar Scheme supports scientists and academics whose work contributes to its Antarctic research objectives. Scholars undertake short visits to provide or receive training and mentoring, connecting their expertise with the needs of host and home institutions. Proposals for entirely virtual visits are also welcome.
The scheme’s central purpose is to build research capacity in countries with smaller or less-developed Antarctic research programmes. A scholar may visit such a programme or travel from one to a programme elsewhere. SCAR aims for these exchanges to strengthen both host and home countries, establish lasting partnerships and advance Antarctic research.
