Description
The Foundation for SMFM offers the Visiting Teaching Fellowship through its Queenan Global Health Awards. Established in 2014 in honor of Dr. John T. Queenan, the awards train current and future leaders in perinatal health to partner in advancing obstetrics in low- and middle-income countries, where a disproportionate burden of adverse outcomes occurs.
The fellowship supports overseas teaching partnerships in obstetric and perinatal care. Potential host sites offer opportunities in obstetric ultrasound, high-risk pregnancy care, obstetric critical care, and medical student and resident education. The program provides an appendix of potential sites and will consider alternative sites where appropriate oversight and safety can be established. Award support can help defray required pre-departure travel medicine and evacuation insurance expenses.
