The Neurological Foundation’s VJ Chapman Fellowships support medical graduates pursuing careers in academic neurology, neurosurgery, or neuropathology. Named after Professor Valentine Chapman, a founding member of the Foundation, the fellowships fund clinical or biomedical research that may be combined with advanced clinical training. Research is undertaken overseas, or in New Zealand with significant international collaboration. Fellows are encouraged to pursue a higher degree, such as an MD or PhD.
The programme supports research into the understanding, prevention, diagnosis, prognosis, treatment, or management of diseases and disorders of the central and peripheral nervous systems. Proposals should have clear outcomes that add to knowledge of neurological disorders. The Foundation also values research impact, development of research skills, collaboration, and growth in neuroscience capacity.
