Description
The Utah Office for Victims of Crime administers Victims of Crime Act (VOCA) funding for organizations providing direct services to people harmed by crime in Utah. Federal VOCA funds come from the Crime Victims Fund, which receives federal criminal fines and penalties. The program aims to help victims and their families recover from the effects of crime.
Supported work includes crisis intervention, safety planning, advocacy, counseling, emergency shelter and housing support, and help navigating the justice system. Funding may also support victim-related legal assistance, forensic exams and interviews, transportation, interpretation, outreach, and limited costs needed to deliver direct services. Programs may serve victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, child abuse, trafficking, fraud, homicide, and other crimes.
