Description
The Volkswagen Environmental Mitigation Trust funds cost-effective projects that reduce nitrogen oxide emissions where vehicles involved in Volkswagen’s Clean Air Act violations were, are, or will be operated. New Hampshire’s Department of Environmental Services (NHDES) administers the state’s Trust funds under its Beneficiary Mitigation Plan and became the lead agency in August 2021.
The current Recharge the Adventure New Hampshire (RANH) program is a competitive reimbursement opportunity run by NHDES in partnership with the Department of Business and Economic Affairs. It supports publicly accessible Level 2 electric vehicle supply equipment (EVSE) at travel- and tourism-oriented locations statewide. Its objectives are to support EV-driving tourists, boost local economies through charging in business and commercial districts, and serve areas with high charging demand from residents and visitors. Earlier Trust opportunities supported direct current fast charging on major travel corridors.
