Vulcanus in Japan is an eight-month training programme run by the EU-Japan Centre for Industrial Cooperation with European Commission support. It offers engineering and science, technology and mathematics students a seminar on Japan, a two-month intensive Japanese language course, and a six-month traineeship at a company in Japan. The 2027–2028 programme runs from August 1, 2027, to March 31, 2028.
The programme aims to help students study advanced technologies used by Japanese host companies, learn Japanese, and understand Japanese culture. It also prepares participants for future careers involving Japanese businesses and people. Funding is delivered through the EU-funded EUJCIC 2026–2028 project, which runs the call and awards and pays the funding.
