Description
The Music Library Association (MLA) established the Walter Gerboth Award in 1984 to support research in progress in music or music librarianship. It recognizes promising work by newer members of the profession and new researchers, encourages scholarship in music, music bibliography, and librarianship, and honors Walter Gerboth, a former MLA president and mentor to emerging music librarians.
Projects have included research on composers and musicians, bibliographies and catalogs, and studies of music library collections and services. The award is supported by the Walter Gerboth Fund, endowed by Janice Gerboth and contributions from MLA members.
