Description
Established in 2011, the Warshaw Master Educator Award is administered by the Society for Surgery of the Alimentary Tract (SSAT) to recognize an outstanding surgical educator and mentor. Presented annually, it honors a member who exemplifies excellence as a mentor, teacher, and educator. Its focus is recognition of educational achievement rather than support for a specified research study or project.
A special SSAT committee selects the recipient using information supplied by the nominator, including the nominee’s relevant activities, accomplishments in surgical education and mentorship, and longitudinal contributions. The recipient is honored at the SSAT Annual Meeting during Digestive Disease Week (DDW).
