The Washington Red Raspberry Commission (WRRC) supports research that addresses the needs of Washington’s red raspberry industry. Its Board identifies research priorities annually and selects projects expected to deliver the greatest industry benefit. The 2027 call covers research during January–December 2027, with proposal forms allowing projects lasting up to three years.
Leading priorities include more effective mite management, labor-saving practices, cultivar development, spotted wing drosophila control, foliar and cane diseases, and weed management. The broader agenda includes fruit quality, soil health, irrigation, nutrient management, alternative production systems, pesticide residues, pollinator impacts, and fresh-market viability. Proposals should connect their work to WRRC’s priorities, define specific and measurable objectives, and explain both the benefits for growers and how results will be shared.
