The Watanakunakorn Clinician Award honors the memory of Dr. Chatrchai Watanakunakorn and is presented annually by the Infectious Diseases Society of America (IDSA) to a member or fellow for outstanding achievement in the clinical practice of infectious diseases. The award recognizes individuals whose careers have been dedicated primarily to direct clinical care and who have demonstrated excellence in areas such as clinical care, clinical research, patient or community education, compassion, patient advocacy, community service, and contributions to national or state infectious diseases societies. Local recognition in medical journals, newspapers, or magazines is also considered.
