Description
Water Projects Fund Grants support on-the-ground actions addressing water quantity and quality needs in Kansas. Administered by the Kansas Water Office (KWO) through the State Water Infrastructure Grant Program, the fund supports construction, repair, maintenance, replacement, rehabilitation, and modernization of water-related infrastructure. Drinking water, wastewater, stormwater, and both hard and green infrastructure projects may qualify.
Funding can also provide matching money for infrastructure grants or loans and assistance with qualifying outstanding state revolving loan balances. The program aims to improve long-term water security, infrastructure modernization, and community resilience. Created through HB 2302 in 2023, the fund’s eligibility, scoring, and administration were updated by HB 2462 in 2026. Awards are competitive, with priorities encompassing public health, financial need, regional cooperation, economic impact, conservation, resilience, and emergent water needs.
