Description
The Washington State Department of Ecology combines state and federal water-quality grants and loans through one application, competitive review, and funding offer list. Ecology determines the appropriate funding sources and may offer a mix of grants, standard loans, and forgivable principal. Technical assistance helps applicants navigate the funding process.
Supported work includes planning, design, and construction of wastewater collection, treatment, combined sewer overflow, and reclaimed water facilities. Stormwater funding addresses urban runoff treatment, flow control, source control, and enhanced maintenance. Nonpoint funding supports restoration, agricultural best management practices, watershed planning, monitoring, education, and land protection tied to water-quality plans. Onsite sewage funding supports large systems, pollution identification, repair and replacement programs, and composting toilets.
