Description
The Vermont Housing and Conservation Board (VHCB) manages this Vermont Department of Environmental Conservation grant as the Clean Water Service Provider for the Lake Memphremagog Basin (Basin 17). It funds non-regulatory work that reduces phosphorus entering surface waters, advancing the clean water goals of the Memphremagog Phosphorus Total Maximum Daily Load.
Eligible work includes stormwater improvements; floodplain, stream, wetland, riparian and lakeshore restoration; and forestry water quality practices. Project identification, development, design, implementation, and operations and maintenance are eligible phases. The program considers phosphorus-reduction potential and benefits such as flood resiliency and flood hazard mitigation when prioritizing projects.
