Formas supports Swedish participation in Water4All’s fifth Joint Transnational Call, a research and innovation initiative co-funded through the European Commission’s Horizon Europe programme. The call seeks to strengthen sustainable water management by improving understanding of interactions between surface water, groundwater and ecosystems, and developing advanced monitoring and management tools. Extreme events and circularity are excluded from this call’s scope.

Projects must address at least one of four overlapping themes: integrated monitoring and assessment; nature-based approaches at hydrological and hydrogeological system scale; smart, secure and adaptive water infrastructures; or resilient water systems through systemic change, policy coherence and inclusive governance. Results should support evidence-based global, EU and national water policies and strategies. Proposals should demonstrate awareness of relevant national and international legislation and policy frameworks.
