Key Information: Austrian subprojects must constitute basic research, with applications submitted to both the Call Secretariat and FWF.
The fifth Water4All Joint Transnational Call supports research and innovation on sustainable water management, excluding extreme events and circularity. It brings together 32 funding organizations from 29 countries, with Austrian participation funded by FWF and Fonds Zukunft Österreich and co-funded by the European Union. The partnership seeks long-term water security and sustainable socio-economic development through new knowledge, evidence-based decision-making tools, innovative water supply approaches, and greater citizen awareness and commitment.
Proposals must address at least one of four overlapping topics: integrated monitoring and assessment; nature-based approaches at hydrological and hydrogeological system scale; smart, secure and adaptive water infrastructures; or systemic change, policy coherence and inclusive governance. Projects may integrate multiple topics. Results should support global, EU and national water management policies, and proposals should demonstrate awareness of relevant national and international legislation and policy frameworks.
