Description
The Vermont Watershed Grant Program helps local groups protect, restore, and enhance aquatic ecosystems and public appreciation of Vermont’s lakes, ponds, rivers, and streams. The Vermont Fish & Wildlife Department distributes the grants in coordination with the Department of Environmental Conservation. The program is funded by half the proceeds from sales of Vermont Conservation License Plates, and groups new to watershed protection are especially encouraged to apply.
Projects may address fish and wildlife habitat, water quality, shorelines, nutrient and sediment loading, recreation, watershed education, or historic and cultural resources associated with conservation. Monitoring of water quality or fish and wildlife populations is also eligible. Grants support complete projects or discrete, identifiable portions of larger projects.
