Description
Launched by the Thomas J. Watson Foundation in 2021, Watson Futures is an education innovation program that takes bold risks on new ideas. It supports early-stage fellow-leader and innovative education programs through strategic grantmaking and guidance. Its work includes a human development innovation portfolio, a platform of human-centered technologies, and the Civic Futures Lab with the City University of New York’s Macaulay Honors College.
Watson Futures also launched World Studios, an international community of student-led innovation studios, partners, and organizations. Its work with Design for America illustrates its approach: reviewing an initiative’s impact model and sustainability, providing financial and organizational guidance, and helping a university-based program develop into an independent nonprofit.
