Description
The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) funds weed management groups working to protect nonindustrial private forest (NIPF) land from invasive plants. Projects may control infestations directly or help others respond through education and outreach, group coordination, inventories, monitoring, and long-term management plans. Related practices can include reforestation, forest improvement, habitat enhancement, and protection of soil, water, wetlands, and rare natural resources when they pertain to invasive plant management.
The program also supports rapid response to prohibited invasive plants and species newly detected in Wisconsin or a region of the state. DNR coordinates that funding based on the species and feasibility of control. Applications are considered on priorities, need, and feasibility.
