Description
The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) Well Compensation Grant Program helps eligible landowners and renters restore contaminated private water supplies that serve a residence or provide water to livestock. It supports water testing, well reconstruction or replacement, connection to an existing supply, and treatment equipment when no other option is feasible.
Eligible costs can also include a new pump and associated piping for a replaced well, proper abandonment of the contaminated well, and temporary bottled or trucked water. The program addresses qualifying chemical, arsenic, nitrate, bacterial and other contamination, including substances such as chlorides, sodium and PFAS. Each contamination type has its own eligibility criteria.
