Description

This opportunity funds established researchers or teams to undertake ambitious, creative research projects that have the potential to generate significant advances in understanding or to develop new methodologies, conceptual frameworks, tools, or techniques relevant to human health and wellbeing. The scheme is open to all disciplines—including STEM, experimental medicine, humanities, social sciences, clinical/allied health sciences, and public health—with a strong emphasis on proposals that are bold, innovative, and have the potential for transformative impact.

Projects may be single-discipline or multidisciplinary, and Wellcome particularly encourages applications from diverse teams and from researchers based in low- and middle-income countries (except India and mainland China). The program is designed to provide researchers with substantial resources, time, and freedom to pursue high-impact questions.
