Description
The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) administers this reimbursement grant to reduce children’s exposure to lead in drinking water at public schools and regulated child care facilities. It supports lead reduction at affected fixtures used primarily for drinking or food preparation, including the purchase and installation of approved hydration stations, point-of-use treatment devices, and lead-free replacement faucets.
The program targets outlets where appropriate water sampling demonstrates lead concentrations above the remediation trigger level. Funded lead reduction activities must follow the Environmental Protection Agency’s 3Ts guidance and applicable drinking water standards. Funding is authorized under section 1464(d) of the Safe Drinking Water Act, as amended by section 2107 of the Water Infrastructure Improvements for the Nation Act.
