Description
The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) administers this program to help public water systems in small, underserved, and disadvantaged communities meet Safe Drinking Water Act drinking water requirements. Funding comes from the Water Infrastructure Improvements for the Nation Act and the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law.
Supported work includes treatment, transmission and distribution, water sources, storage, new systems, and consolidation. The program also supports household water quality testing, access to drinking water services, technical, managerial, and financial capacity building, and activities needed to respond to drinking water contamination.
