Description
The Wild Resource Conservation Program is administered by the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR). It identifies research and conservation needs for Pennsylvania’s native plants and non-game wildlife, then supports surveys, research, and conservation work addressing those needs. The program also shares information among researchers, conservationists, and educators.
Program-supported work has helped identify rare species and special habitats across Pennsylvania’s 67 counties, assess species at risk from climate change, and clarify management needs for American ginseng and hellbenders. It has also helped reintroduce river otters and osprey to the Commonwealth.
