Description
The Arkansas Economic Development Commission’s Rural Services Division administers this program in partnership with the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission (AGFC). It turns money collected from fish and wildlife citations into grants that help schools and conservation districts create and maintain conservation education programs. Funding comes from fines collected in the applicant’s county.
Supported work includes classroom and field equipment for wildlife biology and conservation education; AGFC-sanctioned archery and youth shooting sports; educator training; schoolyard habitats, butterfly gardens, and outdoor classrooms; and student trips to AGFC nature centers, hatcheries, and wildlife management areas. Programs also include Project WILD, Outdoor Adventures, Fishing in the Natural State, and Arkansas Stream Team.
