Description
The Michigan Department of Natural Resources (DNR) administers the Wildlife Habitat Grant Program through its Wildlife Division and Grants Management Section. Funded by a portion of hunting and fishing license revenue, the program supports conservation partners developing or improving habitat for Michigan wildlife. Its goal is to advance the Wildlife Division’s strategic plan by protecting, managing, and enhancing lands for sustainable wildlife populations.
The program prioritizes habitat for Michigan game species and species identified in the DNR’s State Wildlife Action Plan. Habitat priorities are large grassland or savanna complexes of more than 100 acres, including projects that contribute to a larger complex; wetland-associated grasslands; and improved connections between habitat areas.
