The William B. Wisdom Grants in Aid of Research are administered by the Thomas Wolfe Society to support scholars and students studying Thomas Wolfe (1900–1938). The grants fund travel and living expenses associated with research in the William B. Wisdom Collection of Thomas Wolfe at Harvard University’s Houghton Library. Applicants proposing work in the Thomas Wolfe Collection at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill are also considered.
Made possible through the generosity of Adelaide Wisdom Benjamin of New Orleans, the program helps researchers undertake projects requiring access to these collections. Candidates working on PhD dissertations are especially encouraged to apply. The grants connect archival research with the Society’s scholarly activities through recipients’ reports and resulting publications.
