Description
The William H. Harris, MD Award is presented by the Orthopaedic Research Society (ORS) and sponsored by the Harris Fellows Club. It recognizes the quality and scientific merit of a paper accepted for publication in the Journal of Orthopaedic Research, rather than supporting a proposed research project. The paper must address basic and/or clinical research involving the hip. Biological, mechanical, clinical, and other research related to hip reconstructive surgery are appropriate.
The award honors William H. Harris, whose contributions to total hip replacement include advances in surgical techniques, implant design, and understanding osteolysis. He also developed the Harris Hip Score to assess pain and function following surgery.
