The William L. Young Neuroscience Research Award is presented annually by the Society for Neuroscience in Anesthesiology and Critical Care (SNACC). It supports academic physicians and scientists conducting clinical or laboratory-based research related to neuroscience in anesthesiology and critical care. Basic, translational, clinical, and data science projects aligned with SNACC’s mission are welcome.
The award was established following Dr. Young’s death in 2013 to honor his accomplishments as a clinical and laboratory neuroscientist, influential mentor, longstanding SNACC member, and former Society president. Supported research has included postoperative delirium, recovery from anesthetic-induced unresponsiveness, drug-specific arousal circuits, neuroprotective channels, and cognitive function following subarachnoid hemorrhage.
