    Description

Administered by the Center for Craft since 2006, the Windgate-Lamar Fellowship supports emerging craft artists as they transition from student life to working artistic practice. Each year, 10 graduating students receive unrestricted funding to pursue individual plans for personal and artistic growth. Fellows have used this support for material research, establishing studios, further learning opportunities, and travel relevant to their practice.

The fellowship combines financial support with cohort convenings and professional development. Its goals are to provide visibility and networking opportunities, support emerging makers’ careers, and recognize their talent. The program values work informed by craft processes, materials, traditions, or sensibilities, alongside innovation, curiosity, commitment to growth, and the potential to stimulate creative thinking or dialogue among artists.
