Description
The NYSERDA Window Heat Pump Demonstration Program aims to accelerate the adoption of cold-climate packaged window heat pumps (PWHPs) in New York State, with a focus on multifamily building retrofits. The program provides financial incentives for the purchase and installation of qualified PWHPs and funds robust performance monitoring to generate real-world data on effectiveness, cost, and user satisfaction. The initiative is structured in two concurrent phases:
- Phase I: Qualification of manufacturers, suppliers, or distributors whose PWHP products meet specific technical, efficiency, and installation criteria.
- Phase II: Incentivizes the installation of approved PWHPs in eligible multifamily buildings, requiring comprehensive performance monitoring and adherence to tenant protection standards.
The program seeks to inform future clean energy initiatives and drive market transformation for building decarbonization.
