    Description

The Window on Science (WOS) program is designed to foster international collaboration and technical exchange by bringing distinguished foreign non-government scientists and engineers to Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) sites, primarily within the United States (with possible visits to other domestic or overseas locations). The program facilitates direct interaction between foreign subject matter experts and Air Force researchers through seminars, technical discussions, and collaborative activities.

WOS aims to broaden the perspectives of AFRL scientists, introduce new research ideas, and stimulate future collaborations. Visits are typically short-term and may include presentations at multiple sites, as well as outreach to other government, academic, or industrial facilities. After the visit, participants are required to submit a brief letter report summarizing their activities and outcomes.

    Program management is regionally distributed:

    • EOARD (London) covers Europe, Africa, the Middle East, and former Soviet Union countries.
    • AOARD (Tokyo) covers Asia and the Pacific Rim.
    • SOARD (Santiago) covers the Americas.
