The Wisconsin Department of Justice’s Bureau of Justice Programs administers this funding for multi-jurisdictional law enforcement drug task forces across Wisconsin. Supported by the federal Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant program and state penalty assessment fees, the program brings together federal, state, and local drug enforcement agencies and prosecutors to strengthen coordination, intelligence sharing, and joint investigations.
Program goals include arresting and prosecuting organized and independent drug offenders, particularly those involved in importation, distribution, and cultivation. Task forces also identify and respond to emerging drug problems, expand cooperation with other enforcement agencies, and provide drug abuse prevention and education to local groups, organizations, and schools. Funding supports personnel, training, travel, contractual services, supplies, operating expenses, and equipment.
