Description
The Neuro-oncology Scientific Award recognizes an individual for a singular scientific achievement that has advanced neuro-oncology. Sponsored by the American Academy of Neurology (AAN) and supported by friends of Dr. WK Alfred Yung, it honors scientific contributions rather than funding a proposed research project. Investigators from any discipline and at any academic rank may be considered.
The award emphasizes independent contributions and impact on the field. Review considers innovation, clearly described research, appropriate statistical methodology, ethical considerations, and the potential to fill a gap. Scientific citizenship, research track record, integrity, academic excellence, mentorship, professionalism, and inspiration for future generations also inform selection. The recipient is expected to share the recognized work through a short lecture at the AAN Annual Meeting.
