This grant, administered by the New Jersey Department of Labor & Workforce Development (NJDOL) through the NJBUILD initiative, funds programs that expand access to quality training, pre-apprenticeship, and employment opportunities for women and minorities in New Jersey’s construction trades. The goal is to break down economic barriers and connect participants to occupational skills training, work-based learning, and supportive services that prepare them for entry into Registered Apprenticeships or full-time construction employment. Programs must align with industry needs and demonstrate strong partnerships with employers or Registered Apprenticeship sponsors, emphasizing hands-on learning, supportive services (e.g., childcare, transportation), and strategies for successful placement and retention. Eligible occupations include building and construction trades, clean energy, lead abatement, and related administrative or professional roles.
