Description
The NJBUILD Women and Minorities in Construction Trades Program is a competitive workforce training initiative administered by the New Jersey Department of Labor & Workforce Development (NJDOL). It seeks to remove economic barriers to training and work readiness, expand access to construction careers, and help contractors, businesses, and trade unions meet workforce needs. Grantees collaborate with employers and Registered Apprenticeship sponsors to align training with hiring opportunities.
The program supports pre-apprenticeship and pre-employment pathways in building and construction trades, including clean energy and lead abatement. Construction-industry administrative, support, operational, craft, and professional roles are also eligible. Programs combine occupational instruction, workforce readiness, job shadowing, industry-recognized credentials, and placement assistance. Case management, job coaching, and supportive services continue after placement to help participants retain employment and achieve economic self-sufficiency.
