Recognizes up to 10 outstanding mid-career women chemists or chemical engineers with a travel stipend, symposium presentation, and professional visibility at the ACS Spring Meeting.

--- ## Description The Women Chemists Committee Rising Star Award, sponsored by the American Chemical Society (ACS), honors up to ten women approaching mid-level careers in chemistry or chemical engineering who have demonstrated exceptional promise for significant contributions to their fields. Recipients are provided with the opportunity to present their work at a WCC-sponsored symposium during the ACS Spring Meeting, enhancing their professional visibility and networking. Winners receive a $1,000 stipend to support travel to the meeting and are recognized at both the WCC ‘Just Cocktails’ reception and the WCC Luncheon. --- ## Due Dates - June 15, 2026: Deadline for receipt of nominations/applications (must be submitted by 11:30 p.m. EDT) --- ## Funding Amount - Each awardee receives a $1,000 stipend to support travel to the ACS Spring Meeting. - Up to 10 awards are given annually. - Awardees also receive professional recognition and opportunities to present at a dedicated symposium and network at special events during the meeting. --- ## Eligibility - Open to all individual ACS members in chemistry or chemical engineering working in academic, industrial, government, non-profit, or other employment sectors. - Candidates should typically be no more than 15 years from receipt of their terminal scientific degree. - Applicants may self-nominate or be nominated by others (nominator does not need to be an ACS member). - Not eligible: - Individuals already widely recognized and at the pinnacle of their careers. - Prior recipients of the WCC Rising Star Award. - ACS national award winners. - Those more than 15 years from their terminal degree. - Members of the National Women Chemists Executive Committee. --- ## Application Process - Submit applications online by the deadline. - Required materials: - Nominee’s resume or CV (PDF) - Primary nominator letter (max 800 words/2 pages, at least 11pt font, PDF) - For self-nomination, a second nomination letter is required (same format) - For other nominations, a second nominator letter is optional but recommended - All nomination documents must be uploaded as PDFs; no embedded documents are allowed. - ACS membership is required for the nominee (membership number can be provided later). - Demographic data is collected voluntarily for aggregate reporting.
