Description
The Washington State Department of Labor & Industries (L&I) funds organizations trusted by underserved worker communities to make workplace protections more accessible. The program focuses on workers who may face language barriers, fear retaliation, or need help navigating government services. Its goals include increasing knowledge of worker rights, access to L&I services and remedies, and workers’ ability to advocate for themselves.
Grants support outreach and education about L&I-administered workplace safety and health, wages and hours, and workers’ compensation. Activities can include community communications and forums, one-on-one or small-group education, help with forms and processes, and connections to L&I staff. Outreach and forums must take place away from job sites unless coordinated with the employer.
