The Wound Healing Foundation, with support from Solventum, formerly 3M Health Care, offers this fellowship to stimulate scientific research and career development among young investigators and junior faculty pursuing careers in wound healing research. The 28th fellowship supports a year of research through salary support and direct research costs, with payment made to a U.S. nonprofit, university, or medical school responsible for the fellow’s research environment.
The fellowship has supported investigations into biological mechanisms of wound repair, impaired healing in diabetes, inflammation, angiogenesis, scarring, and regenerative repair. Recent projects include epigenetic control of endothelial metabolism in diabetic wounds, photobiomodulation for post-burn muscle wasting, biomarkers of pyoderma gangrenosum, and alginate dressings for sustained drug delivery to improve diabetic wound healing.
