Description
Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity’s Write Over Here: Indigenous Futurism residency supports Indigenous screenwriters at various career stages who want to advance a work in progress. Writers may apply individually or with a collaborator to develop original screenplays or adapt literary works for film, television, or episodic web platforms. The program emphasizes futurism, screenwriting development, peer collaboration, and culturally informed creative practice.
The hybrid residency combines an online preparatory week with on-campus writing, workshops, discussions, and events. Faculty and guest artists offer script reviews, story and character development workshops, and one-on-one feedback. Participants have 24-hour access to personal studio space on campus, alongside networking and community engagement opportunities. Concurrent Literary Arts and Visual Arts residencies encourage cross-disciplinary exchange around related themes.
