Description
This program, administered by the North Carolina Water Resources Research Institute (WRRI) in partnership with the USGS 104(b) program, funds research, engagement, and information transfer projects that tackle pressing water resource issues throughout North Carolina. The grant encourages proposals from a wide range of disciplines—including natural sciences, engineering, social sciences, education, communications, economics, and policy—with a strong focus on multidisciplinary approaches, meaningful public engagement, and collaboration with local communities. Projects must align with one or more of WRRI’s priority areas: non-point source and stormwater management, drinking water/wastewater and infrastructure, surface and groundwater quality/quantity, and integrated watershed management. The goal is to develop innovative, actionable solutions to complex water resource challenges facing the state.
