Description
The North Carolina Water Resources Research Institute (WRRI), in federal-state partnership with the U.S. Geological Survey’s 104(b) program, supports research, engagement, and information transfer addressing North Carolina’s water resource challenges. Projects may use social science, education, communications, natural science, engineering, economics, policy, or multidisciplinary approaches.
The program prioritizes non-point source pollution and stormwater management; drinking water, wastewater, and infrastructure; surface and groundwater quality and quantity; and water resources and watershed management. Meaningful public engagement, extension activities, and community collaboration are strongly encouraged. Research should help address practical water issues, improve understanding of water-related phenomena, and communicate results to water managers and the public.
