    Description

The Foundation to Advance Vascular Cures runs the Wylie Scholar Program to support outstanding young vascular surgeon-scientists committed to academic careers combining clinical practice with original, innovative research. The award helps recipients conduct impactful vascular research early in their careers and establish the groundwork for national career development awards and independent funding. One scholar is selected each year through a competitive review by previous Wylie Scholars.

Supported work spans basic science, translational, clinical, patient-centered, and outcomes/health services research, as well as teaching, community service, and patient care. The program also offers scientific mentorship, guidance on future research opportunities, and networking with other surgeon-scientists. Since its launch in 1996, it has supported more than 25 scholars whose discoveries and academic leadership have advanced vascular science and patient care.
