Description
Established in 1986, the Wyoming Arts Council’s Creative Writing Fellowships honor literary achievement rather than fund a prescribed project. The program recognizes exceptional writing in poetry, fiction, and creative nonfiction. Applications are reviewed by noted authors and literary professionals from outside Wyoming, who may also award honorable mentions.
Fellows may be invited to share their work at a Wyoming literary conference. They retain the rights to their writing, although the Arts Council may use manuscript excerpts in its publications and promotional materials. The council placed the fellowships on temporary hiatus in May 2025 because of funding limitations and directs readers to check the program page for reopening updates.
