Established in 1986, the Wyoming Arts Council’s Visual Arts Fellowships honor artists whose portfolios demonstrate serious and exceptional aesthetic investigation. The program recognizes emerging and established Wyoming artists working across visual media, including painting, sculpture, installation, photography, video, and mixed media. Artists and curators from outside Wyoming review applications for artistic merit.
Recipients participate in the council’s biennial Visual Arts Exhibition at a major visual arts institution or museum in Wyoming. The exhibition connects artists with audiences and institutions and raises the profile of visual art statewide. The council placed the fellowship on temporary hiatus in May 2025 because of funding limitations and directs applicants to check for updates.
