Description
The Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality’s Water Quality Division runs the Nonpoint Source Program within its Watershed Protection Program. It works with landowners, local groups, and government agencies to protect and restore Wyoming’s surface water and groundwater through voluntary, incentive-based projects. Its watershed approach addresses diffuse pollution carried by runoff or infiltration, including bacteria, sediment, nutrients, pesticides, and selenium.
The program includes federal Clean Water Act Section 319 grants for locally led, on-the-ground watershed restoration and protection, and Section 205(j) grants for water quality management planning and assessment. Projects may address erosion and runoff, stream-bank stability, riparian areas, and native vegetation.
