Description
Washington State’s Yakima Basin integrated planning grants support projects developed through the Yakima Basin Integrated Plan, a consensus-based effort to secure sustainable water supplies for families, farms, and fish in the Yakima River Basin over 30 years. The Legislature authorized funding for the plan’s initial development phase in 2013.
Ecology’s Office of Columbia River plans and implements projects with stakeholders and vets them with the Yakima Basin Work Group. Supported work includes fish passage and habitat improvements, irrigation changes, surface water and groundwater storage, water-bank reallocation, and conservation. Plan subcommittees with relevant expertise review and score funding opportunities using a stakeholder consensus approach.
