    Description

The YIVO Institute for Jewish Research offers the Fellowship in Baltic Jewish Studies to support original doctoral or postdoctoral research in Lithuanian Jewish history. Funding comes through the Abram and Fannie Gottlieb Immerman Memorial Fellowship in Eastern European Jewish Studies and the Maria Salit-Gitelson Tell Memorial Fellowship, which together support two to three months of research at the YIVO Library and Archives.

The fellowship is part of YIVO’s Max Weinreich Center Research Fellowships for scholarship using its library and archival collections. It places Lithuanian Jewish history within the broader field of Eastern European Jewish studies and includes a public lecture through which the fellow shares their research. Two additional Eastern European Jewish studies fellowships may be combined with this award or awarded separately.
