The Ruth and Joseph Kremen Memorial Fellowship, administered by the YIVO Institute for Jewish Research, supports research in Eastern European Jewish arts, music, and theater. It assists undergraduate, graduate, and post-graduate researchers whose projects draw on YIVO’s arts, music, and theater archival collections and library. The subject matter is not geographically limited to Eastern Europe: projects may address Eastern European Jewish diasporas on any continent.
The fellowship provides support to defray research-related expenses during a required two- to three-month research period. It is part of YIVO’s Max Weinreich Center Research Fellowships, which support scholarly use of the institute’s collections. A public lecture connects the fellowship’s collection-based research with public presentation of the holder’s work.
