Description
The Society of Surgical Oncology Foundation’s Young Investigator Award promotes and recognizes clinical and translational research that advances innovative ideas for improving health outcomes through cancer-related care. It supports emerging surgical oncologists pursuing hypothesis-driven, patient-oriented projects, with an emphasis on innovation in the delivery of care.
The expanded program offers an any-topic award and an appendix cancer–focused award supported by the Appendix Cancer Pseudomyxoma Peritonei Research Foundation. Eligible approaches include quality of care, cost effectiveness, decision analysis, meta-analysis, surveys, comparative effectiveness, qualitative research, health disparities, operations research, health economics, patient-reported outcomes, and patient safety. Translational projects involving animals must also include a human-subjects research component.
