The Young Scientists Summer Program (YSSP) is a three-month research programme run by the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA) in Laxenburg, Austria. It brings together up to 50 doctoral students from around the world to undertake projects connected to IIASA’s research agenda. The institute addresses global problems too widespread or complex for a single country or scientific discipline to solve.
Participants work with IIASA mentors on focused projects achievable over the summer. Projects may contribute to a doctoral thesis or research paper, or explore a new research direction. Seminars, workshops and interdisciplinary exchange complement the research. The Research Council of Finland (RCF) supports participation by selected doctoral students working at Finnish research sites.
