Description
The Youth Environmental Education Grant Program, offered by the Chesapeake Bay Trust, provides funding to schools, nonprofits, community associations, faith-based organizations, and public agencies for projects that engage youth in investigating and addressing local environmental issues. Projects must follow the Meaningful Watershed Educational Experience (MWEE) framework, which emphasizes student-centered, hands-on learning and action. The program also supports professional development for educators to enhance their capacity to deliver high-quality environmental education.
Funding is available for four project tracks:
- Out-of-school outdoor investigations for youth
- Outdoor classroom, school-yard habitat, or community-based improvement projects
- Professional development for formal, non-formal, and community educators
- In-school MWEEs for Pre-K-12 students
Projects must take place in Maryland or the Chesapeake Bay watershed regions of D.C., Delaware, Pennsylvania, Virginia, or West Virginia.
